Stepping from the pages of Fredrik Backman’s international best-selling novel, Ove is the quintessential bitter old man living, if you can call it that, next door.

An isolated retiree with strict principles and a short fuse, Ove passes the time enforcing housing association rules that only he cares about, and visiting his wife’s grave which he cares about perhaps too much. Ove has nearly given up on life, and sees everyone as incompetent. Enter a boisterous young family next door who earns his special brand of ire when the dad and mom accidentally flatten his mailbox while moving in. Yet from this inauspicious beginning an unlikely friendship develops as we come to understand Ove’s life; his happiness and heartbreaks. What emerges is a heartwarming tale of unreliable first impressions and the gentle reminder that life is sweeter when it’s shared.
