This bio-pic about J.D. Salinger, the reclusive writer of the classic coming of age novel Catcher in the Rye, captures the author’s legendary life from the late 1930s into post-war gritty and buttoned-up 1950s New York City.

We follow  Salinger (Nicholas Hoult) as he struggles to find his voice, pursues a love affair with famed socialite Oona O’Neill (Zoey Deutch), after fighting on the front lines of World War II. It’s these experiences that help inform the creation of his masterpiece, The Catcher in the Rye, bringing him overnight fame and leading him to withdraw from the public eye for the rest of his life. The cast includes Kevin Spacey as his mentor at Columbia University and Sarah Paulson as his understanding agent, Rebel in the Rye offers a tantalizing window into the life and times of a little-understood genius who broke the rules and redefined American literature.
