Like “MAD MEN” in real life, ART AND COPY explores the creative rebels behind the most innovative advertising campaigns of our time.
Successful ads don’t just move product; they move culture. In the ’60s, Phyllis K. Robinson empowered the “Me Generation” with a Clairol slogan. In the ’80s Hal Riney helped Reagan get re-elected with “It’s Morning in America.” And in the ’90s, Dan Wieden’s “Just Do It” made athletes of us all. Doug Pray’s (SURFWISE, HYPE!) colorful documentary sells us on the undeniable art behind these and other ad campaigns. But as TV satellites are launched and billboards are erected, it also brings to light the social and cultural impact of advertising. A dynamic exploration of art, commerce, and human emotion.
